Achieving success in the internet marketing industry requires commitment and a resilient mindset. Take it from Isaac Kevelson, one of ClickBank’s youngest platinum affiliates to date.
Isaac has achieved remarkably impressive internet marketing success. It’s not just remarkably because of his young age (he’s 20) but because of his humble attitude. Of course, he’s talented too. As the youngest platinum client in ClickBank history, you’d have to be. But Isaac is certain that anyone can do the same, just as long as they get into the mindset.
Isaac’s first big mindset change happened around the time he started college. Even though he realized that pursuing an undergraduate degree wasn’t the right path for him, his parents weren’t as confident—especially considering Isaac left campus to focus on growing his internet marketing career.
It was several years prior that Isaac’s interest in internet marketing began. He was 17 and just starting his senior year of high school.
“It was kind of random,” Isaac said, “I was getting into self-improvement and one of the channels I followed posted a video about how to make money from Instagram. I guess it inspired me.”
Looking back, Isaac realized that, although he was inspired to get started, he had the wrong idea about internet marketing.
“When I started, I had a ‘get rich quick’ mindset. I thought things would take off really fast. So, looking back, that wasn’t the right way to look at it. I decided to make a deal with myself to just stick with it for as long as it would take.”
Isaac’s commitment to “just stick with it” mirrors many of the advice that top marketers and CEOs offer today. Considering he’s not yet 21, it’s fair to say he’s a little ahead of the game. So, how’s it done? When it comes to internet marketing success, here are his top seven big picture tips:
1. Get Obsessed
Getting obsessed with your passion is different than just working more. Obsession is a level of dedication that transcends immediate rewards. When you think about achieving your internet marketing goals, think about time as an investment. Each hour you spend surrounding yourself with your passion means more headway towards achieving your goals. Yes–it will get tiresome, but what’s the alternative?
For Isaac, there wasn’t one. “As soon as I started college, it didn’t feel right. It just felt wrong for me. I know I would regret it if I didn’t go all-in on making money online. I decided to drop out as soon as the first semester was over.”
If you know fundamentally that you will regret not going for it, the first way to jump-start your success is to simply invest your time into achieving it.
2. The 1% Mindset
If you want to be at the top, you have to have the mindset of the top. According to Issac, that mental shift can be the key to unlocking your potential.
“How many people actually end up making money online?” he said. “It’s probably less than 1%. Really, the only way to be in that 1% is to operate on that level.”
That level included working like crazy towards his goal and not settling for the routine or expected path. Which ties into Tip #3.
3. Follow Your Intuition
If you know, you know; yah know? Yet, so many people mute their intuition and settle for jobs and careers that don’t make them happy. One of the best ways to figure out if you’re on the right path towards your personal success is to pause and think about what you really love to do and how your ideal day would look. Even if you’re not on the path you want to be right now, you can start following your intuition and correct your course. Isaac encourages thinking about what appeals to your personality.
“I went into college undecided because nothing stood out to me that much,” he said. “Personally, I really like making money online. It’s the perfect option for me because there’s not just one thing I want to do for the rest of my life. I like doing new stuff all of the time and I want to have the freedom to do that.”
4. Keep it Lowkey
Do you want people to think you’re someone who makes money online, or do you want to actually make money online? Only one of these answers is correct when it comes to achieving success.
This is a good test for all endeavors. From becoming a writer to traveling… the person who achieves the goal spends more time putting in the work rather than talking about putting in the work. Oftentimes talking about goals can diminish motivation because it provides a false sense of accomplishment which can lead to complacency.
“For me, I don’t really like to talk about something until I have success with it,” Isaac said. “And even then, I don’t really outwardly talk about it much.”
5. Expect Failure
Not only should you expect failure, you should embrace it as a sign you’re heading the right way on your course towards success. When it comes to internet marketing, Isaac doesn’t sugar coat it.
“You can take some hits, you can lose some money, try dozens of things that don’t work out. Which all happened to me. It’s really tough. People get into it and they expect to be making money quickly. And when they don’t, they just quit.”
Isaac encourages people to look at internet marketing like any other skill. If you rule out quitting, you’re bound to get better at it because of the time you invest in it.
6. Find a Mentor and the Right Network
While you don’t necessarily need a mentor to be successful, Isaac suggests people starting out find successful individuals in their field and network with them.
“Become friends with them,” he said. “Learn from them instead of trying to figure everything out yourself. You’ll reach success much faster.
In addition to mentors, leveraging the right tools and networks can boost your growth as well. For Isaac, the right choice was ClickBank.
“From the perspective of an affiliate, ClickBank has been very accommodating,
Isaac said. “From helping me get faster and better payouts, to general support, they really help me with anything I need.”
7. No Matter What, Don’t Quit
At the end of the day, this is the most important message Isaac wants people to listen to.
“If you don’t quit, you’re eventually going to succeed. If you have the mindset of not quitting, you’ll have the belief system that you can do it and that you can operate on the level that’s required to get the results you want,” he said.
“I was one hundred percent sure that I would be successful. And I think if you have the mindset where you go all in, then you can’t lose. Because then, no matter what happens, you will simply keep pushing through it until things start working out. If you don’t fully believe in yourself, then you’ll quit when things get rough. And quitting is the only real failure.”
